Gerd Gigerenzer (1947) is Director at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and the Harding Center for Risk Literacy in Berlin. He has taught at the Universities of Munich, Constance, Salzburg, and Chicago. His books include Better Doctors, Better Patients, Better Decisions (2011, with Sir Muir Gray), Heuristics (2011), Gut Feelings (2007). Calculated Risks (2002), and Bounded Rationality (2001, with Reinhard Selten). He has been the recipient of many awards, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science Prize.
